About Land Measurement Units
Square Feet (sq ft)
The most common unit in real estate, especially in India and the US. One square foot is the area of a square with sides of one foot each.
Square Meter (sq m)
The standard metric unit for area measurement. Widely used in Europe and increasingly adopted worldwide. 1 sq m = 10.764 sq ft.
Square Yard (sq yd)
Commonly used in India and the UK. One square yard equals 9 square feet or 0.836 square meters.
Acre
A large unit primarily used for agricultural land and large properties. 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft or about 4,047 sq m.
Hectare (ha)

Bigha
